Salvation

Religion is particularly different for me to learn or think about. I grew up in a non religious family, and have only been in a church for a few funerals. So for this particular module, I did choose to not interact on the slacker page very much. I did still read and use emojis to react to some classmates. What I do know personally about religion is that you believe in one specific god and follow by his rules/lead. Other than knowing this, I only learned a few other things through high school history and word of mouth by others. I chose myself as an adult to not partake in religion as I generally do not believe that one should have to “bow down” persay to one person all together. Though this is what I did know before this module, this is not currently what I know after reading this.

For starters, the historical concept we learned about in this module was annalyzing cause and consequence. However, I am a little confused as to how this particular concept fits in with religion. I understand that if you chose to be apart of a religion that you had to abide by said rules and if you break them then you must follow the consequences. But I think that this concept has a larger meaning to it than that. Maybe I am just missing it all together? In the module I had brought up that all actions have consequences. I was responded with the questions how do we begin sorting them? How to we begin sorting them? This is huge to follow through on, although I do not have the answers myself. Some events have immediate consequences or causes. (Divorce is immediate sin, and results in adultry, according to “Introduction to the Sermon on the Mount”) Where others have reoccuring events that lead up to the consequences or actions. (Anti-Chinese riot as mentioned in the Historical Thinking concepts).

We once worshiped multiple gods but now, most of us focus on one god. In step 6, I found the podcast to be very interesting. The most significant concept I received through this was when he was talking about helping someone in need. He stated that if one was not in a rush they would help the person in need, versus if you were in a rush you would not help that person. I don’t for see this being true. If a person has a good soul, they would help regardless.
